Programme Overview
The four year regular undergraduate course provides an overview of mental illnesses and the need of adequate sensitization in the community that can have significant impact on the society at large. The course is developed to create adequate frontline mental health professionals to help in the early identification of any disability or disorder. The students will have exposure to the field of psychology and the roles and responsibilities of this profession.
Programme Objectives
B. Sc. Clinical Psychology (Hons.) is UG program at OSGU’s School of Teacher Education has the following program objectives
- To enable the students to understand psychology as a science, its relevance and applications.
- To provide students with an understanding of fundamental psychological concepts, theories, and principles, covering areas like perception, cognition, emotion, motivation, and development.
- To give an insight to explain behaviour on the various psychological processes.
- Explore original approaches to psychology, including concepts of consciousness and self from Indian philosophical traditions such as the Upanishads
- Equip students to apply social psychological theories to real-world situations, such as understanding prejudice, discrimination, and social change.
- To familiarize students with various career avenues in psychology and the diverse fields where psychological principles can be applied.
- Provide ground Clinical training for better understanding
Programme Outcomes
- Students will get the licensure under RCI as “Clinical Assistant (Clinical Psychology)” after successful completion of the course.
- Conduct awareness/ information/ education/communication program related to mental health and illnesses in the community.
- Basic screening using rating scales and interviews for an early identification of people with mental illness in the community and making appropriate referral
- Provide psychological First Aid in a crisis situation
- Psycho-educate individual (one-to-one and group) related to mental health, life-skills activities, disease awareness, and preventive activities.
- Conduct IQ assessment and simple behavioural and community interventions for children and adults with intellectual disability
- Simple psychosocial rehabilitative activities
Career Path
The course has been designed to train the teachers to teach students who are differently-abled or physically challenged. Through the course, the teachers are given theoretical and practical knowledge in terms of teaching skills methodologies, teaching pedagogy, and other skills. Through this course, the candidates can pursue their education in any of the specializations including locomotors disability, low vision, hearing impairment, visual impairment, learning disability, deaf blindness, autism, spectrum disorder, multiple disabilities and other differently challenged specialization.

Eligibility Criteria
Minimum percentage and others criteria for admission will be as per UGC/ Concerned Regulatory Bodies.
Provided below are the criteria that need to be met for the given course.
For National Students
- Students who have completed 12th class with science stream of equivalent will be eligible to apply for this programme.
- The selection will be based on their performance in the Entrance Test and selection will determined by the basis of marks obtained in entrance test conducted by the respective university/affiliating university/ institution.
For International Students
- Rule framed by University Grants Commission (UGC) and notified in its website www.ugc.ac.in will be followed for deciding the eligibility and admission of International students to various courses offered in Om Sterling Global University, Hisar.
