3rd INTERNATIONAL MOOT COURT COMPETITION

About the Organiser

The School of Legal Studies, Om Sterling Global University, was established in 2019 and is approved by the Bar Council of India, New Delhi. The stature of the School of Legal Studies is as big as its strength and has a legacy in terms of its research and academic work. The School of Legal Studies, with utmost pleasure, announces that it is organizing the 3rd International Moot Court Competition, 2025, and everyone is cordially invited to participate.

About the Moot Court Competition 

The present moot court competition shall be conducted with the objective of providing learning opportunities to the students. Moot court is to help law students to develop legal research, advocacy, and courtroom skills. Moot court competitions simulate real court hearings, allowing students to practice presenting arguments and interacting with judges. The present moot problem is based on constitutional law and international law.

Eligibility Criteria: – Regular students of 3-year or 5-year law degree courses from any BCI-approved university/college/institution/department are eligible to participate in the competition. Only one team will be eligible to participate from a university/college/institution/department.

The teams are required to submit the details through the Google form. Students must print the approval letter, have it signed by team members, and obtain the signature of the forwarding authority. The signed approval letter must be uploaded and also brought at the time of competition.

Participants will receive acknowledgment on successful submission of registration on their respective e-mail ID.

Team Composition: – A team shall be comprised of three members, i.e., two speakers and one researcher. The teams shall identify the speakers and researcher during registration and mention it too in the approval form.

Official Language: – The official language of the competition shall be English only.

Dress Code: – The participants shall adhere to the following dress code when present in any courtroom during the competition:

  • Female Students: White salwar and kurta or white shirt and a black trouser along with black coat and black shoes.
  • Male Students: White shirt, black trousers, and black tie along with black coat and black shoes. 

 

Team Code: Each team will be provided a team code during orientation. Teams should not disclose the identity of their institutions; such disclosure shall invite penalties including disqualification.

Guideline for Formatting:The memorials shall not be more than forty (40) pages, and the arguments shall not exceed more than twenty-five (25) pages.

  • Written memorials must be typed on A4 pages in Times New Roman font with 12 font size and with 1.5 line spacing.
  • The footnotes must be in Times New Roman font with a 10 font size and with 1.0 line spacing, and “ILI citation style” must be used for citing the authorities.

The Memorials must comprise the following sections:

Cover Page:The Cover Page must be coloured differently for the Petitioner(s) and Respondent(s) i.e.  Blue Cover for Petitioner and Red Cover for Respondent.

Researcher’s Test:

  • The Researcher’s test shall be conducted on 16th April,2025
  • Participation in the researcher’s test is mandatory for all the teams and failure to participate may result in disqualification, subject to the discretion of the organizing committee.
  • Only the researcher as the designated under the rules of the Competition, shall write the test and such researcher shall not be allowed to address the Bench during the Oral Pleading Sessions.
  • The duration of the Researcher’s test shall be 25 minutes and it shall be in the Multiple-Choice Question format. It shall comprise 25 Questions and It carries 50 Marks.
  • Researcher’s test shall test the knowledge of the laws involved as well as the factual details of the Moot Problem and the application of the relevant laws to the circumstances in the Moot Problem.
  • No notes, Bare Acts, Books or any other material shall be permitted during the Researcher’s Test.

 

Registration:

  • Online registrations are open from 10th March, 2025 to 5th April, 2025. All registration is to be made online on the link https://forms.gle/g5gf4EVqD6JPUKoF8.
  • No temporary registration requests will be entertained. Kindly refrain from sending such requests to the university’s school of legal studies, Om Sterling Global University.
  • The registration of the team is considered to be complete once the registration fee is paid, and the registration fees once paid will not be refunded.
  • After this initial registration, team codes shall be allotted and communicated on mail provided in the form by the participants.
  • The registration fees of Rs. 2000/- (without accommodation) and additionally, Rs. 600/- “per day, per participants” for the accommodation shall be paid online, and a copy of the receipt must be sent to mail, i.e., mootcourt@osgu.ac.in. Only after payment of registration fees along with approval letter shall participation of teams be confirmed, and the same shall be communicated to the given mail in the registration form.
  • One Moot Court Co-ordinator is eligible for accommodation on chargeable basis Rs. 600/- “per day”.
