RULES & REGULATIONS

  • Teams are required to submit their general (fix) board order on or before 10.02.2025.
  • Teams are required to submit their Changeable board order for every round before 30 Minutes of next round.
  • Teams should be submitting their player’s current ratings.
  • Teams Seeding will be given according to players ratings.
  • Nobody will be allowed in the tournament hall after finishing the game.
  • Use of Mobile Phones, Wrist Watches, Communication Devices and any other type of Electronic Devices are strictly prohibited at the Playing Area If any such devices are found to be in use by any teams during the games, then immediately the Teams will get ZERO point.
  • Captains/last Players supposed to submit result sheets carefully.
  • Coaches and Managers are supposed to leave the hall before 5 minutes of starting of every round.
  • The decision of the Organizing Committee shall be final and binding pertaining to the matters related to the Tournament.
  • All the Players, Team Managers, Coaches required to mandatorily wear/display Identity Card during the entire period of stay at Om Sterling Global University, Hisar all the time for identification/hospitality and their due convenience at our venue.
  • Travel Plans should be submitted on priority on aiuchessmen2025@osgu.ac.in along with the List of the Players/Team managers/Coaches for smooth facilitation of their stay at Om Sterling Global University, Hisar.
  • A copy of the subscription receipt of present year obtained from AIU New Delhi should be handed over at the registration desk during the time of registration.
  • All the Participating Team Managers will be given Relieving Certificate and Gate Passes on the Final Day of Departure after deposition of No Dues Certificate obtained from Reception/Registration Desks.
  • All teams are required to report to the OSGU Campus on 02.2025. On arrival, dedicated reception and registration desks will be available to assist with formalities related to arrival, accommodation, and food management. Teams are encouraged to utilize these facilities to ensure a smooth registration process.
  • Eligibility Performa: The Manager of the team shall have to Submit 4 Copies of Eligibility Performa and the Identity Cards of Team Members duly signed by the Competent Authority at their arrival. The same Soft Copy of Eligibility Performa/List of Players in prescribed format should be mailed to aiuchessmen2025@osgu.ac.in on priority basis before 10th February 2025. A Copy of the Subscription Fee Receipt of present year obtained from AIU, New Delhi should be handed over to the Organizing Secretary/Reception/Registration Counter at the time of Registration at the Venue.
  • The participating Universities shall have to submit the attested photo copies of 10+2 Board Certificate/ Aadhar Card attested by Competent Authorities of their respective Universities.
  • Participation in the Inauguration Programme is compulsory for all players and teams. Players who fail to attend the programme will not be permitted to participate in the tournament. Attendance will be recorded at the venue of the inauguration. Additionally, teams are expected to wear their designated uniforms while attending the inauguration ceremony and participating in the joining ceremony walk/parade. These requirements aim to maintain discipline and uphold the spirit of the event.
  • Legal action: Will be taken against any misconduct, the instructions at the place of the Tournament are compulsory to be obeyed for harmonious and long- lasting relationships among the participating Universities.
  • The organizing University will not be responsible for the financial loss or the survival loss during the tournament.
  • Team Composition Rules: Each team participating in the tournament shall consist of four main players (A, B, C, D) and two reserve players (E, F). The seeding of the teams will be determined based on the average rating of the top four players. To facilitate the seeding process, it is mandatory to submit the FIDE IDs and FIDE ratings of the players, if applicable.
  • System of Play: The tournament will follow the Team Swiss System in accordance with the FIDE Laws of Chess. It will comprise seven rounds, although the exact number of rounds may be adjusted depending on the total number of entries. Each game will be played with a time control of 60 minutes per player, with an additional 30-second increment per move starting from move one.
  • Standings and Tie-Break Rules: In determining standings, match points will be awarded as follows: a win earns 2 points, a draw earns 1 point, and a loss earns 0 points. In the event of a tie, the following criteria will be used to break the tie: direct encounters based on match points, game points (where a win earns 4 points, a draw earns 2 points, and a loss earns 1.5 points), followed by the Sonneborn-Berger and Berlin System methods.
  • Forfeits Points: For games where a team receives a walkover, match points of 2 and game points of 4 will be awarded. In cases where a team is assigned a bye, match points of 2 will be given, but no game points will be awarded.
  • Default Time: The default time for a player to arrive at the game is 15 minutes. Any player arriving after this time limit will forfeit the game.
  • Arrears: All arrears, including affiliation fees and tournament fees, must be cleared prior to the submission of entries. Any failure to settle dues will result in the rejection of the team’s entry.
  • Disqualification: Participants are required to remain at the venue until the prize distribution ceremony concludes. Leaving the venue early without obtaining permission from the Chief Arbiter will lead to a one-year suspension.
  • Interpretation of Rules: The decisions made by the tournament committee will be final and binding. Amendments to the rules may be made without prior notice but must be approved by the All India Chess Federation (AICF) and displayed prominently in the tournament hall.
  • In case of any Claim, Managers are required to protest within two hour after completion of current round with a fee of Rs.2000.

Note: The rules and regulations set by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) will be considered final and binding on all participants.
