Strategic Brilliance Unfolds: OSGU Hosts AIU North Zone Inter-University Chess (Men) Tournament 2025 with Grand Success

After successfully hosting the (Association of Indian Universities) AIU North West Zone Youth Festival from 8th to 12th February 2025, where 23 universities participated from 03 states: Rajasthan, Haryana and New Delhi,  Om Sterling Global University (OSGU) had the honor of hosting the (Association of Indian Universities) AIU North Zone Inter-University Chess (Men) Tournament from 20th to 23rd February 2025, with participation of 41 universities from 07 States: Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand and New Delhi.

The event commenced on 20th February with a Technical Meeting, attended by AIU Observer Mr. Anurag Singh, Chief Arbiter Ms. Kavita Patel, and team managers from all participating universities. This was followed by the Inaugural Session, graced by Lt. Gen D.P. Vats, Former member of Rajya Sabha as the Guest of Honor, alongside the Chancellor: Dr. Punit Goyal, Pro-Chancellor: Dr. Punam Goyal, Vice-Chancellor: Dr. N.P. Kaushik, Pro Vice-Chancellor:  Dr. Rajender Singh Chhillar, and Director of Sports: Dr. A.K. Nandal of Om Sterling Global University, Hisar.

The tournament saw intense competition, with three rounds played on 21st February, three rounds on 22nd February, and the final round on 23rd February. After a thrilling contest, Delhi University, New Delhi emerged as the champion, followed by Punjabi University, Patiala (2nd place), Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak (3rd place), and Punjab University, Chandigarh (4th place), Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra (5th Position) and Netaji Subhash University of Technology, New Delhi (6th Position).

The Valedictory Ceremony took place on 23rd February, where the Chief Guest was our Chancellor: Dr. Punit Goyal and Pro-Chancellor: Dr. Punam Goyal and the  Guest of Honor was Mr. Jai Bhagwan, DSP and a world-renowned boxer from Haryana. He shared words of wisdom with the students, inspiring them with his journey and the importance of perseverance in sports. He also presented awards to the winners, recognizing their outstanding performances.
