SET-05
Post Graduation
2 Years
Programme overview
Geotechnical engineering, also known as Geotechnics, is the application of scientific methods and engineering principles to the acquisition, interpretation, and use of knowledge of materials for the solution of engineering problems and the design of engineering works. It is the applied science of predicting the behavior of the soil, its various materials and processes towards making the soil more suitable for human activities and development.
Program Objectives
The objectives of the post-graduate program in Geotechnology Engineering is to prepare the Engineers to R&D construction sites, conduct lab less, create design for structures, construction and ensure safety, security, economy and environmental-friendly construction.
Program Outcomes
The program enable the students to use the principles of soil mechanics and rock mechanics. It also helps them to investigate surface conditions and materials, determines the relevant physical/ mechanical and chemical properties of the these materials. it also gives the knowledge of evaluating the stability of natural shapes and man-made deposits.
Career Path
The students after completion of this course will have an in depth knowledge in Geotechanical Engineering. Geotechnical engineers are involved in stages like
- Site supervision
- Inspection of soil, rocks, bedrock
- Project analysis
- Design and construction of foundation and other necessary structures etc.
Usually, their job involves site work, supervision, design, cost estimation as well as project management.
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum percentage and others criteria for admission will be as per UGC/ Concerned Regulatory Bodies.
Provided below are the criteria that need to be met for the given course.
For National Students
- Bachelor Degree of concerned Engineering Branch.
For International Students
- Rule framed by University Grants Commission (UGC) and notified in its website www.ugc.ac.in will be followed for deciding the eligibility and admission of International students to various courses offered in Om Sterling Global University, Hisar.
Programme Syllabus
The program syllabus is drafted in such a way that the students are prepared for their professional field. Various aspects of the field are covered neatly and at length so that overall development is ensured. With this kind of curriculum, the students gain much more than just the theoretical knowledge of the area. The aspirants are made capable in a manner that they will be left with multiple choices of career in the concerned field.
