M.Sc. cardiovascular technology or Master of Science in cardiovascular technology is 2-year postgraduate programme. The programme is designed to train paramedical personnel with core knowledge in clinical cardiovascular medicine and physiology to support clinical cardiovascular procedures, stress testing, electrocardiography, pacemaker analysis, vascular diagnostics, echocardiography, cardiac catheterization, heart failure therapeutic support, rhythm management support, preventive patient counseling and cardiac rehabilitation.

Programme Objectives

The major contribution of a M. Sc Cardiac Care Technologist is to assist physicians and surgeons in the following categories:

Programme Outcomes

Cardiac Technologists assist physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiac (heart) and peripheral vascular (blood vessel) conditions preparing patients for open-heart surgery implanting pacemakers monitoring patients during these procedures performing cardiac stress tests and electrocardiograms using and maintaining the medical equipment that catches irregular heartbeats working in laboratory settings on real patients management of various cardiac disorders having complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Learning of complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures that involve use of various equipments computer hardware tools machines and pharmacological agents are part of the programme that enable students to acquire skills for management of various cardiac disorders. MS.c Cardiac Technologists use diagnostic cardiology equipment and monitor resultant data typically in assistance to a physician. During cardiovascular testing a tube is inserted into one of the blood vessels that carries blood into the heart.

PT post-graduate is encouraged to pursue further qualification to attain senior position in the professional field, also to keep abreast with the advance and new technology the professional should have option for continuous professional education credits offered by national and international institutes.
