Programme Overview
B.Sc. in Central Sterilization Supply Department is a 3-year undergraduate programme under which, we train students to work as infection control technologist. After undergoing training in subjects of basic medical sciences, students are trained to do sterilization using various techniques like autoclaving, ethylene oxide (ETO) sterilization and other newer techniques. They are trained to maintain and manage central sterilization and supply department (CSSD) functioning. They learn the utilization of numerous diagnostic equipment for example Ventilators, monitors, defibrillators, C-arm etc. and also patient assessment abilities. Training also concentrates on the knowledge and skills of monitoring infection control policy and procedures in the operation theatre. They are further involved in promoting hand hygiene and other infection control practices in different parts of hospital. They are also trained for monitoring, evaluating and managing various types of hospital acquired infections. At the end of three years, students are competent to work as a team member of CSSD and Infection control team at tertiary care establishment.
Programme Objectives
The specific educational objectives of the course aim at favoring the following competencies:
- To develop a professional technician who will maintains the cleanliness, functionality and inventory of healthcare instrumentation and equipment.
- To develop technician who will be skilled for sterilizing instrumentation and equipment through a series of critical steps.
- To develop a responsible technician who will ensures that patients avoid infections and those doctors, nurses and allied health professionals are able to access the instrumentation and equipment they need immediately.
Programme Outcomes
During the study, the candidates are responsible for caring for all the surgical instruments and additionally their disinfection and sterilization. Candidates help the specialist amid operations and nearly take care of the medications, anesthetic gases, curtains, and sterilization necessities during surgery. A student is introduced to the various sterilization machines used to sterilize instruments. By the end of the course a student learns efficiently on how to use sterilization techniques to sterilize instruments and redistribute them for future use.

After doing Bsc in CSSD, depending upon your aptitude, interest and skill set, you can work in the following areas:
- Assembling & Packaging Area.
- Autoclaving Area.
- Sterile Storage Area
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum percentage and others criteria for admission will be as per UGC/ Concerned Regulatory Bodies.
Provided below are the criteria that need to be met for the given course.
For National Students
- Intermediate (10+2) or its equivalent in PCB stream
For International Students
- Rule framed by University Grants Commission (UGC) and notified in its website www.ugc.ac.in will be followed for deciding the eligibility and admission of International students to various courses offered in Om Sterling Global University, Hisar.
