Programme Overview
Knowledge of Law is essential in every walk of life because the social setup of any country is built & regulated by some norms of behavior from the very beginning of social life which are either codified in legislative enactment or judicial precedents or social customs. Every action of an individual society, any association or organization is regulated & controlled by several kinds of legislation. Every resident of a nation is bound to have the knowledge of the law of the land because the latin maxim speaks- Ignorantia legas non excusat (ignorance of law is no excuse) imparting legal education by educational institutions is an attempt to this end.
This course familiarizes students intimately with the teaching methodologies and legal research of both national and international characters keeping in view the different types of legal systems, especially in Common Law traditions as well as Civil Law system as practiced in India. It enables students capable of analyzing and examining the economic, cultural and political impact of enacted laws. The course fosters study and research into legal theory and values; examines the relationship between theory and practice; and enhance opportunities for scholarly research, writing, and publication.
Programme Objectives
The objective of the LL.M programme in OSGU is to provide opportunity for students to receive applicable training; practical skills and necessary education to effective contribute to the legal environment. The aim of OSGU is to prepare students to become an integral part to the legal team and enhance student’s understanding of their ethical responsibility and role under the supervision of attorneys. It not only teaches students active listening skills and effective writings but also provide students with extensive instruction in legal research and technology offerings, including the use of electronic legal database.
Programme Outcomes
LL. M (MASTERS IN LAW) – 1 year program will equip the students with the fundamental understanding about the various concepts of Constitution, Civil, Criminal, Human Rights and related fields. They will be competent of being gainfully employed in various sectors like corporate sector, judiciary and courts as well as opting for higher studies and research.
This programme will integrate two distinct approaches to the study of law and legal institutions in India:
- The first is to develop a textured, empirical understanding of how law and legal institutions operate in Indian society.
- The second is to develop an ability to use the law to respond to critical problems in social policy.

Eligibility Criteria
Minimum percentage and others criteria for admission will be as per UGC/ Concerned Regulatory Bodies.

- Rule framed by University Grants Commission (UGC) and notified in its website www.ugc.ac.in will be followed for deciding the eligibility and admission of International students to various courses offered in Om Sterling Global University, Hisar.
