Programme overview
Civil engineering, the oldest and broadest of the divisions of engineering, implements a range of public and private projects for improving society’s physical infrastructure and the environment. The civil engineer integrates scientific principles with engineering experience to plan, design, and construct networks of highways and railroads, airports, bridges and dams, environmental pollution control systems, industrial structures, water purification and distribution systems, and urban transportation systems that maintain, protect, and enhance the quality of life.
Program Objectives
- The main and foremost reason to study civil engineering should be your interest in the field.
- Civil engineering deals with design construction and maintenance of building, bridges, dams, roads, canals etc.
- The idea of designing building ,high rise towers and bridges is very fascinating. One can feel proud by designing something and see it being constructed and used.
- My advice is to – find your passion and interest and if it lies in the field of construction and design then go ahead and do civil engineering.
Program Outcomes
- Civil engineering is perhaps the oldest form of engineering and has been existing since the beginning of civilization.
- Civil engineering not only helps boost your resume and provides good job prospects, but the person gets to work for the wellbeing and well fare of the society as a whole.
- Society ceases to exist without civil engineering.
Career Path
A civil engineering degree prepares you for work in the construction industry as well as in the business, management and financial sectors.
- Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) (requirements vary by state)
- Advanced degree such as » Masters degree in civil engineering
- Advanced credentials as appropriate
- Continued professional development
