OSGU organised a Webinar on International Sign Language Day

To create an awareness on the International Sign Language Day, a Webinar on September 23rd, 2024 was jointly organised by the Departments of Teachers Education, Social Sciences and Humanities and Performing and Fine Arts of the Om Sterling Global University. The aim of the Webinar was to provide an improvised understanding on the importance of Sign Language. The Chancellor of the University Dr. Punit Goyal and Pro Chancellor Dr. Punam Goyal addressed all the teachers and students who attended this webinar and delivered their eminent guidance. The Vice Chancellor of the University Dr. NP Kaushik and Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Rajendra Singh Chhillar stated the need and importance of connecting Divyang Students with the mainstream of the society and the requirement of bringing about change in the attitude towards Divyang children and see them as a crucial part of the society and not as subjects of mercy. It was further added that learning of Sign Language can open numerous opportunities for the Deaf so that they can afford a decent and respectful life and can also become able to contribute in the modernization and economic development of the society.
The Special Guest Speaker of the webinar, Mr. Kamala Kant Pandey, a member of the Divyang Advisory Board, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, stated that people who are not able to hear and speak are still serving the country and its people through education. Highlighting the importance of sign language, he said that this language is helpful for smooth exchange and harmonious social relations between both the deaf and hearing groups. This webinar was completed under the supervision of Dr. Jitendra Mishra, Dr. Sunil Bainda, Dr. N. P. Giri and Ms. Meenakshi Mohan. Along with this, teachers and students of different departments of the university participated in this webinar and contributed to making it successful.
