Programme Overview

Master of Pharmacy in Industrial Pharmacy is a two-year postgraduate course in Pharmacy. Industrial Pharmacy is one of the specializations of the M. Pharmacy Course. The subject plays an important role in the development, validation, and manufacture of drug products, including their safety & quality. The curriculum gets the student ready for a variety of new career paths in the pharmaceutical industry and associated sectors. Graduates of this program are capable of handling the R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance aspects of a variety of medicinal products. The course provides graduates with an understanding of cutting-edge concepts, basic and advanced scientific technologies, and how to translate scientific research into industrial practice through a transdisciplinary approach that integrates industry experiences, case studies, real-world projects, and self-directed studies.

Programme Objectives

Students who complete the Master of Pharmacy (Industrial Pharmacy) are employed in various areas such as pre-formulation evaluation, scale-up & technology transfer, and stability testing. The extensive curriculum makes them skilled in pharmaceutical manufacturing, quality control, and pharmaceutical management.

  • Production and Manufacturing: A student can work in the production department after doing M.Pharm., where he will be involved with actual manufacturing of different dosage forms
  • Career in Regulatory Bodies: A Pharmacist can be absorbed in the Regulatory bodies with special divisions dealing with the manufacturing/ licensing of drugs. He/she can work as an inspector to inspect pharmacy shops.
  • Research and Development: A student with an M.Pharm. degree can enter the R&D field, where he/she will be working with the invention and formulation of new drug delivery systems for drugs as a Research Associate
  • Assistant Professor: A student can also make his/her career in academics. In pharmacy institutions, they are eligible to work as assistant professors for bachelor students.
  • Sales and Marketing: Students, with M. Pharm. degree, can also work as Product Managers in Pharma/herbal industries.
  • Medical Transcriptionist: A student can also work as a medical Transcriptionist

  • Implementing team-based research to implement innovative solutions in formulation, evaluation, validation, technology transfer, artificial intelligence, and in silico modeling.
  • Putting practical learning tactics and innovative thinking in academics and profession
  • Authenticate the knowledge and skills expanded through education to gain gratitude in the Pharmaceutical industry
  • Assembling production unit in a lab and then in a pilot plant which helps in designing and fabrication of pharmaceutical dosage forms in the industry.

Career Path

The topmost career opportunities after M. Pharmacy in Regulatory Affairs include the following:

Pharmacy Benefit Analyst: For a business to go a long way, the client base has to be taken care of. So, the Pharmacy Benefit Analysts conduct regular research to retain the existing clients and work on strategies to rope in the new ones.

They also have the responsibility of updating new benefit plans after communicating with the clients and analyzing the claim processing requests from the clients.

Production and Manufacturing: A student can work in Production department after M.Pharm, where he will be involved with actual manufacturing of different herbal dosage forms

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum percentage and others criteria for admission will be as per UGC/ Concerned Regulatory Bodies.

Provided below are the criteria that need to be met for the given course.

For National Students

A Pass in the following examinations

  • a) B. Pharm Degree examination of an Indian university established by law in India from an institution approved by Pharmacy Council of India and has scored not less than 55 % of the maximum marks (aggregate of 4 years of B. Pharm.)
  • b) Every student, selected for admission to post graduate pharmacy program in any PCI approved institution should have obtained registration with the State Pharmacy Council or should obtain the same within one month from the date of his/her admission, failing which the admission of the candidate shall be cancelled.
  • It is mandatory to submit a migration certificate obtained from the respective university where the candidate had passed his/her qualifying degree (B. Pharm.)

For International Students

  • Rule framed by University Grants Commission (UGC) and notified in its website www.ugc.ac.in will be followed for deciding the eligibility and admission of International students to various courses offered in Om Sterling Global University, Hisar.
