Education is not only the process of acquiring knowledge, values and developing habits but is also putting these acquired knowledge to good use. The teachers are the best educaters as they gaining knowledge, gather information and develop the ability with time to apply what they have learned and pass on the knowledge to their students. However, to be a teacher needs certain special skills to impart knowledge.
The Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) programme trains students in competencies and abilities necessary for a teacher. There are 2 branches of B.Ed programme which are B.Ed General Education and B.Ed Special Education. The duration of both the professional degree programmes is 2-year which qualifies a person to teach students. The curriculum for both the B.Ed programme usually covers foundational topics in education, teaching methodologies, educational psychology, classroom management, and assessment techniques, however, B.Ed Special specifically prepares teachers to work with students who have diverse learning needs or to teach a specific subject area in greater depth.
B.Ed general education imaparts the knowledge of teaching students with normal aptitude and with regular faculties, whereas, B.Ed special education teachs how to cater the children with average or less then average intelligence and/or having and disabilities or impaired functioning. It is important to understand that the specific differences between B.Ed General and B.Ed Special programs can differ depending on the educational institution that offers the programs and also the requirements defined by the relevant educational authorities.
