- To enable students of commerce and management to observe how theoretical concepts learned in class apply in real industry settings — production, quality control, logistics, and overall operations management.
- To offer opportunities for students to interact with industry professionals, learn about industry best practices, quality standards, and gain insights into possible career paths in the dairy manufacturing sector.
- To bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world industrial operations, preparing students for future managerial roles in manufacturing or supply chain industries.
Industry Overview
Vita Milk Plant is a significant enterprise in the dairy/milk manufacturing sector in Haryana. The plant is reputed for its commitment to high quality standards and modern production practices. The company handles raw milk processing, quality assurance, packaging, and dispatch — catering to domestic market demands (and possibly export, as indicated by its contact points for export queries).
During the visit, we learned that the plant operates under strict hygiene and safety standards. The company’s operational layout includes multiple departments such as production, quality control (QC), and logistics, ensuring end-to-end handling — from raw material intake to the final distribution of packaged milk products.

- There is a strong emphasis on quality control: regular testing, adherence to hygiene standards, and systematic handling of raw materials and finished products.
- Workflow across departments appears well-coordinated — from procurement of raw materials to finished product dispatch.
- Staff and management demonstrated professionalism, and were willing to engage with students, answer questions, and provide clarity about production, market practices, and management of supply chain operations.
- The size and scale of operations, combined with standard operating procedures (SOPs), reflect what students learn theoretically in management courses — giving real-world context to those theories.
Feedback from Students & Faculty
- Students found the visit extremely informative and appreciated the opportunity to see first-hand how a large-scale dairy manufacturing plant operates.
- Many students remarked that the visit helped them understand the practical challenges and complexities involved in industrial production — something not easily conveyed through textbooks alone.
- Faculty members Dr.Yuvraj Chahar and Ms. Anjali Saroha expressed their satisfaction with the plant’s cooperation and the knowledge-sharing by industry professionals.
- Students felt motivated and more confident about careers in operations, supply chain, quality control, and related fields within manufacturing industries.
Conclusion
The industrial visit to Vita Milk Plant, Jind was a successful and enriching experience. It achieved its primary purpose of bridging the gap between classroom learning and practical industrial operations. Through exposure to real-world production, quality control, logistics, and management processes — and by interacting with experienced industry personnel — students gained valuable insights into how a dairy manufacturing plant functions.
Such visits are integral for commerce and management education as they supplement theoretical knowledge with practical understanding. The visit has enhanced students’ appreciation of industrial operations and prepared them better for future professional roles in the manufacturing or supply-chain sector.
The Department and University look forward to organizing similar industry visits in the future to continue offering students practical exposure and industry-relevant learning experiences.
