About the Programme

The objective of B.Sc. (Medical Lab Technology) program is to impart basic knowledge and skills involved in disease diagnosis with special emphasis on the techniques and interpretation of lab examinations of various  types of clinical samples.

The future prospects in MLT depends on the academic and technical skills of the technologist/technician. Initially he/she joins any laboratory as a Certified Medical Laboratory Technician. Now a days with the growth in the private sector there are so many private hospitals, nursing homes, blood banks, pathology laboratories etc and the demand for laboratory technicians is on the up-swing. With adequate knowledge and experience, Medical Laboratory Technologists can advance to supervisory or management positions in laboratories and hospitals.

The B.Sc. (Medical Lab Technology) program will equip the students with the fundamental understanding and skills related to different techniques of disease diagnosis. They will be competent of being gainfully  employed in diagnostic laboratories, hospitals and health care institutes or they may also opt for higher studies and research.

The Medical Laboratory Technology field has been a tool in the diagnosis and study of the various diseases for proper treatment. Theknowledge in the field of Hematology, Microbiology, Bio-chemistry and General Pathology is of utmost important for any skilled technician. And therefore, in the rapidly growing area of scientific knowledge and skills, laboratory science is an important area of study for Medical Laboratory Technicians. The Laboratory Technology is a basic important and growing science in the health sector. As there is no council to accredit this training programme, there are number of training centres mushrooming everyday without any standard is a great threat to human beings.
